Rotavator-How to Assemble, Maintain, and Use?

A rotavator is a tractor-mounted machine that uses rotating blades to prepare the land and provide the best soil condition. This implement also prevents and controls pest invasion and crop diseases. This multipurpose agriculture implements, mechanically pulverizes, cuts, mixes, and levels the soil in a single pass. A rotavator aims to successfully vouch for the survival and uniformity of the crop to be planted, improves soil, water, and air conditions, and maintains soil conservation. There are however a large variety of rotavators that could be put to use depending on the power source, type of terrain, and the size of the farming area.

How To Assemble a Rotavator?

A rotavator is equipped with various parts such as an independent topmast, Single or multispeed gearbox, Chain or gear cover part flange, Blades, Cardan shaft, Rotor shaft, Trailing board, Frame and cover, Adjustable depth skids, and Offset adjustable frame.

Transmission of power from the tractor PTO to the input rotavator shaft is done through the independent top mast. The rotavator is classified as an engine-operated or tractor-drawn rotavator depending on the power used.

The power-driven shaft is used to cut the soil and trash and the blades are the central component of a rotavator since it drives the machine in preparing the seedbed and mixing the farm soil.

The blades are generally L shaped since they fulfil the task of killing weeds and provide maximum efficiency. The rotavator can easily be adjusted to suit one’s needs in the field. The rear cover can be adjusted, and the degree of pulverization of the soil can be controlled easily. It also has adjustable depth skids to determine the distance between the soil and the blade.

How To Maintain?

A rotavator is a sturdy and intricate machinery that needs regular care and maintenance to ensure its long, healthy, and smooth life. The rotavator’s engine oil and filter need to be changed regularly owing to its task of digging up the soil.

It should be done at least once a year or after 50 hours of use or if the oil looks to be dirty. Rotavator’s air filter needs to be cleaned regularly and the other parts need to be washed after each use to have maximum efficiency.

Regular maintenance and checking of this farming implement will provide economic benefits and also not compromise the safety of all those involved in its operation.

Use of Rotavator

A rotavator provides a rapid seedbed preparation and reduced draft in comparison to the traditional methods. It offers time and labour efficiency by reducing it by 30%-35% that used to go in land preparation by traditional cultivators.

It is a fuel-efficient implement and increases the quality of work, reduces the cost of operation, and ensures the permanent existence of rotavators in every farm. A rotavator offers the maximum amount of nutrients to the crops by boosting soil porosity and aeration which in turn increases the crop yield and ultimately raises the profit.

It can be used for various crops like sugar cane, cotton, banana, and many more. A rotavator brings back the soil moisture and reduces the labour and the hard work that is used to go into preparing the soil. This power-operated farming implement is easy to use and makes the whole process smooth and manageable.
