Weather Alert - Bad Weather May Hit Agriculture Across Punjab
On Thursday night and Friday morning, there were reports of strong winds in some areas in the states. It flattened the crops but on a small scale.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, from March 17 to 20 there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorm, lighting, and strong winds in some parts of Punjab and Haryana. This has left the farmers worried and they are in confusion over-irrigating their Kharif crops, especially wheat.
It is also reported that if the farmers have already irrigated the field and the strong wind blows, then there are chances of crop flattening.
On Thursday night and Friday morning, there were reports of strong winds in some areas in the states. It flattened the crops but on a small scale. According to a report of TOI, farmer Abjinder Sangha from Guara Village informed, “Strong winds flattened the wheat crop in various villages where irrigation was done a couple of days ago. We are worried about the weather.”
Another farmer Joginder Singh from Muktsar said, in some pockets, crops are flattened and it was time for the last waters, which we have long planned due to the prevailing hot weather.
Previously on 16th March, there were reports of light to moderate rainfall at many places in Punjab. There is a forecast of a fall in max. the temperature in the state by 2-4 degrees during these 2-3 days.
General Agromet Advisory includes withholding irrigation and chemical spray, keeping arrangements for drainage, and storing the harvested produce in a safe place.
