Uttarakhand's Aroma Valleys Project Aims to Provide 70,000 Jobs to Farmers

The Chief Minister, Dhami Dehradun, just shared an excellent plan that will make a big difference for the farmers. They're working on creating six Aroma Valleys in the Himalayan state which will be going to open up over 70,000 job opportunities in farming.

The Chief Minister is excited about this, saying that they are developing six Aroma Valleys in the state. This is going to benefit more than 37,000 farmers and create over 70,000 job opportunities.

The project aims to reduce conflicts between humans and wildlife by growing aromatic plants. This project in Uttarakhand is all about promoting aromatic and medicinal farming, and it's even going to help keep animals away from the crop fields, which means more profit for farmers. They're planning to plant aromatic plants like Damask rose, lemongrass, and Japanese mint, plants that bother the animals and keep them at a safe distance.

These aromatic plants are going to bring in more money for farmers compared to the usual crops like wheat and pulses. Moreover, there's a big demand for aromatic products, especially in the luxury market. So, farmers are going to cash in on this with their aromatic farming.

Therefore, the hilly regions of Himalayan states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are perfect spots for starting aromatic businesses. The upper areas are like gold mines for growing medicinal and aromatic plants, which can turn into high-tech farming ventures.

Back in June, Chief Minister Dhami kicked off India's first Aroma Park in Kashipur. Uttarakhand therefore is the first state in the country to have a special institution called the 'Aromatic Plant Center' (CAP) at the state level.

The first Aroma park in the country was set up by CAP, along with some other associations like the Fragrance Trade Association in Delhi the Essential Oil Association of India in Noida, and SIDCUL. More than 24,000 farmers are already into aromatic farming and the government is making complete efforts in creating clusters for aromatic farming.
