Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Gives a Push to Aromatic Farming
Aromatic crops are establishing themselves as wonderful cash crop because of their ability to survive difficult environmental conditions. The cultivation of aromatic crops will bring people back to farming in Uttarakhand.

On Wednesday Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said with a growing global perfume market, aromatic cultivation can emerge as the best alternative to traditional farming in the state and draw the attention of people back to agriculture.
While inaugurating a centre for the development of aromatic plants in Selaqui, Dhami said, " Aromatic crops are establishing themselves as a wonderful cash crop because of their ability to survive difficult environmental conditions. Cultivation of aromatic crops will bring people back to farming in Uttarakhand as the international perfume industry deals in billions.”
The Chief Minister spoke of how the weather, soil-related challenges, and monkey menace had forced people in Uttarakhand to quit farming.
Dhami said, " the centre has been opened to give a general push to aromatic cultivation in the state because growing aromatic crops can attract the people back to agriculture as its market is growing all over the world."

Dhami added,” In Uttrakhand, seven aroma valleys will be started including Cinnamon valley in Nainital and Champawat, lemongrass and mint valley in Haridwar, a mint valley in Udham Singh Nagar, Timur valley in Pithoragarh Damask rose valleys in Chamoli and Almora, and a lemongrass valley in Pauri district.”
He also said that it will be much easier to develop barren lands into fields and orchards of aromatic crops and plants by growing cinnamon, Surai, Timur, and Damask rose plants at the high-tech nursery.
