UP Govt to Distribute Subsidized Solar Pumps to 54,000 Farmers Under PM-KUSUM, Know Last Date & Price

The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has announced the distribution of subsidized solar pumps to over 54,000 farmers across the state for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25. This initiative is being undertaken through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana (PM-KUSUM Scheme), a central government program that seeks to enhance farmers' access to clean energy solutions for irrigation purposes.

Farmers across all 18 divisions of the state, organized into three sets of six divisions each, are invited to partake in this program by submitting online applications through the official website 'www.agriculture.up.gov.in.' Beginning on February 27 and concluding on February 29, eligible farmers are required to deposit a nominal token amount of Rs 5,000 as part of the application process.

The application window for farmers residing in districts falling under Chitrakoot Dham, Varanasi, Meerut, Prayagraj, Bareilly, and Kanpur divisions opens on February 27 from 12 noon onwards. Subsequently, farmers in Saharanpur, Moradabad, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Mirzapur, and Basti divisions can apply on February 28, while those in Agra, Jhansi, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, and Devipatan divisions can submit their applications on February 29.

The program offers a range of benefits to participating farmers, including subsidized solar pumps where the government will provide substantial financial assistance for the purchase of solar pumps, significantly reducing the upfront cost for farmers. Farmers can choose from nine different types of solar pumps, ranging from 2 HP to 10 HP, therefore meeting to the specific requirements of their land and irrigation needs.

 Applications for the scheme can be submitted conveniently through the state agriculture department's website, eliminating the need for lengthy paperwork or physical visits to government offices. To ensure efficient processing and avoid overwhelming the system, the application window will be divided into three phases, allowing farmers from different regions to apply on designated dates.

In terms of financial details, the combined cost of 2 HP DC and AC surface pumps is Rs. 1,71,716, out of which the state government and the central government have committed subsidies of Rs. 59,291 and Rs. 43,739, respectively. The total subsidy amounts to Rs. 1,03,030, with the remaining amount of Rs. 63,686 to be borne by the farmers after the initial registration fee of Rs. 5,000.

Similar subsidy structures apply to 2 HP DC submersible pumps and 2 HP AC submersible pumps, with corresponding costs of Rs. 1,74,541 and Rs. 1,74,073. The subsidies provided by the state and central governments, along with the registration fee, ensure that farmers have access to these transformative technologies at affordable rates.

Expanding the scope of assistance, the Yogi government will also extend subsidies to farmers for submersible pumps ranging from 3 to 10 HP. For instance, 3 HP DC submersible pumps will receive subsidies totaling Rs. 1,39,633, comprising Rs. 82,476 from the state and Rs. 57,157 from the central government. Similar subsidy structures apply to 3 HP AC submersible pumps, 5 HP AC submersible pumps, and 7.5 and 10 HP AC submersible pumps, with the cumulative support reaching substantial amounts to facilitate widespread adoption.
