Union Minister Kailash Choudhary Launches AI Chatbot to Empower Farmers under PM-KISAN Scheme
In its initial phase, the AI Chatbot will assist farmers in obtaining information related to their application status, payment details, ineligibility status, and other scheme-related updates. Accessible through the PM KISAN mobile app, the Chatbot is integrated with Bhashini, offering multilingual support to cater to the linguistic and regional diversity of PM KISAN beneficiaries.
In a groundbreaking move aimed at revolutionizing the way India's farmers access information and support, the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, officially launched an AI Chatbot for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme today in New Delhi.
The AI Chatbot, unveiled by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Kailash Choudhary, is a testament to the government's commitment to leveraging technology for the welfare of farmers. This innovative tool will enhance the efficiency and reach of the PM-KISAN scheme, providing farmers with prompt, clear, and accurate responses to their queries.
Shri Choudhary emphasized that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to bring positive change to the lives of farmers and improve governance through the use of technology. The AI Chatbot will serve as a one-stop solution for farmers, offering information on the scheme and assistance in resolving grievances. Shri Choudhary also urged the expansion of the service to include additional features such as weather information, soil conditions, and bank payments.

During a virtual event attended by dignitaries from the Government of India and State Governments, the successful launch of the AI Chatbot marked a significant milestone in the agricultural sector. Shri Manoj Ahuja, Secretary, the Department of Agriculture & Family Welfare, announced that the AI Chatbot would be implemented for other major schemes of the Ministry in the coming months, further enhancing farmers' access to critical information and support.
Shri Pramod Mehreda, Addl. Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Family Welfare, provided a detailed presentation on the features of the Chatbot and its benefits for farmers, highlighting its potential to streamline interactions between farmers and government schemes.
The AI Chatbot, developed in collaboration with the EKstep foundation and Bhashini, serves as a comprehensive guide for beneficiaries, offering timely and accurate responses to queries related to the PM-KISAN scheme. Notably, it is the first AI Chatbot integrated with a major flagship scheme of the Union government.

Currently available in English and Hindi, the Chatbot will soon expand its language offerings to include Bengali, Odia, Telugu, Tamil, and Marathi. By October/November 2023, it aims to be available in all 22 languages of the country, ensuring accessibility for farmers across India.
The launch of the AI Chatbot represents a significant leap forward in the government's efforts to modernize and simplify agricultural support systems, ultimately benefiting millions of farmers nationwide. It underlines India's commitment to embracing technology as a catalyst for positive change in the agricultural sector.
