Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh: Over 1,60,000 Farmers Have Benefited From Biotech-KISAN Scheme

Dr. Jitendra Singh stated in a written response to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha today that the Biotech-KISAN scheme has been introduced to offer guidance and resolve issues related to water, soil, seeds, and marketing faced by farmers.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office for Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, provided information to the Rajya Sabha.

He stated that over the past year, from January 2022 to December 2022, approximately 160,000 farmers have benefitted from the Biotech-KISAN scheme.

Dr. Jitendra Singh stated in a written response to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha today that the Biotech-KISAN scheme has been introduced to offer guidance and resolve issues related to water, soil, seeds, and marketing faced by farmers.

The program offers counselling and practical demonstrations to farmers, to enhance their agricultural practices. This includes guidance on the use of better-quality seeds and planting stock for vegetables, the implementation of interventions for plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPRs) and bio-fertilizers, the adoption of irrigation and protected cultivation technologies, and the improvement of livestock such as goats, pigs, poultry, and fishery. Additionally, the program covers health management techniques for livestock and poultry.
