Syngenta India Introduces Innovative Plant Protection Solutions to Combat Crop & Vegetable Pests
Incipio and Simodis, with their PLINAZOLIN technology, present a breakthrough active ingredient for protecting plant health and combating harmful pests affecting key crops. Their tank mix compatibility with other fungicides further enhances their applicability.
As the monsoon graces the Indian subcontinent, farmers prepare to sow their fields, hoping for a bountiful harvest. However, a persistent challenge looms large - the threat of crop pests. In response to this ongoing concern, Syngenta India, a leading ag-tech company, has stepped up with a game-changing solution. The company recently launched its latest plant protection innovations - Incipio and Simodis. Powered by the revolutionary PLINAZOLIN technology, these cutting-edge products promise effective defence against pests, ensuring improved yields and crop quality for paddy, cotton, and vegetable farmers across the country.
The menace of pests has been a perennial challenge for farmers, leading to significant crop losses every year. The introduction of Incipio and Simodis aims to combat this issue by providing efficient solutions to tackle climate change-induced challenges and pest resistance.
Incipio, a high-end insecticide, targets the emerging threats posed by new species of stem borers and leaf folders attacking paddy crops. On the other hand, Simodis offers a reliable and powerful defense for cotton and vegetable crops against sucking insects and lepidoptera insects such as butterflies and moths. Specifically, Simodis has proven to be highly effective on vegetables like hot pepper, brinjal, cotton, groundnut, soybean, and red gram.

Pest infestations can lead to yield losses ranging from 30 to 40 percent if not managed effectively and at the right time. The short duration control with existing solutions has resulted in an increased number of applications, adding to the overall cost burden on farmers. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report has highlighted the impact of global warming and rising temperatures, predicting a potential increase in insect populations worldwide and a consequent loss of grains by 10-25 percent. The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) estimates that farmers lose an average of 37 percent of their rice crops to pests and diseases annually.
Susheel Kumar, Country Head, and Managing Director of Syngenta India expressed optimism about Incipio and Simodis as effective alternatives to combat pest challenges. He emphasized that these new solutions would provide longer duration control against resistant pests, offering significant relief to farmers.
Dr. KC Ravi, Chief Sustainability Officer, Syngenta India, highlighted the comprehensive approach taken by the company in developing Incipio and Simodis. These products are tailor-made to address the unique challenges faced by paddy and vegetable growers in India and aim to transform the country into the largest producer and exporter of various vegetables.
The newly launched Incipio and Simodis offer a broad spectrum, effective, and long-lasting control against multiple pests, thus reducing the number of applications required. This not only helps improve crop quality but also results in cost savings for farmers, including labor costs, ultimately securing their livelihoods.
As India stands as the second-largest producer of eggplant, playing a crucial role in providing income for small vegetable farmers, its brinjal production has gained significance in global markets with exports to Singapore, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Maldives.
Eggplant cultivation faces tough challenges with pests like shoot borers and fruit borers causing yield losses of 50-70 percent. In addition, mites, jassids, and thrips also require excessive spraying, often exceeding 20 applications per season to achieve acceptable control.
Incipio and Simodis, with their PLINAZOLIN technology, present a breakthrough active ingredient for protecting plant health and combating harmful pests affecting key crops. Their tank mix compatibility with other fungicides further enhances their applicability. The PLINAZOLIN technology provides control over multiple pests, ensuring a long-lasting effect and reducing the need for frequent spraying - a game-changer for growers, offering a simpler, more powerful, and reliable solution to safeguard yields and crop quality.
With the introduction of Incipio and Simodis, Syngenta India aims to empower Indian farmers with reliable and effective plant protection solutions, ultimately fostering increased yields, improved crop quality, and sustainable farming practices.
