SBI Organizes Farmer’s Meet to Empower Lavender Cultivators in J&K

The State Bank of India (SBI) is actively supporting lavender cultivation in Bhaderwah, Jammu and Kashmir. They organized a Farmers' Meet to provide financial assistance and valuable insights, aiming to empower cultivators and ensure sustainable growth.

In an effort to promote lavender cultivation in Jammu and Kashmir's Bhaderwah region, the State Bank of India (SBI) organized a comprehensive Farmers' Meet at the Lal-Ded Auditorium of Bhaderwah Campus.

 State Bank of India (SBI) which is one of the largest public sector banks in India offers a variety of financial products and services to farmers, including loans, insurance, and savings schemes. SBI's policies can help lavender farmers across Jammu and Kashmir by providing them with access to capital, reducing their risk, and improving their market access. The bank offers a weather-based crop insurance scheme that protects farmers from losses due to natural disasters. Additionally,  SBI has partnered with local cooperatives to help lavender farmers market their products. These partnerships have helped farmers to increase their incomes and improve their livelihoods.

This day-long gathering brought together 150 lavender cultivators, aiming to educate progressive farmers about various government credit linkage policies designed to promote the development of the agriculture sector, particularly in lavender farming.

Ravinder Kumar, the esteemed Deputy General Manager (DGM) at SBI, graced the event as the chief guest and eloquently highlighted Bhaderwah's well-deserved reputation as a leading region for cultivating exotic lavender, earning it the title of "India's Capital of Lavender."

At the event, DGM SBI Ravinder Kumar Gupta emphasized the SBI team's commitment to aiding the progress of farmers involved in growing and adding value to aromatic plants. He emphasized the institution's efforts to disseminate information about its diverse credit linkage policies, empowering farmers with financial support and propelling their growth.

The event featured a panel of esteemed speakers, including Ravindra Kumar Gupta, Deputy General Manager, of J&K Module; Deepak Sharma, Chief Manager, of SBI Regional Office Jammu; Rajeev Chhabra, Regional Manager, of RBO Jammu; and Sunny Bhat, Chief Manager, of SBI Regional Office Jammu. Their insightful presentations provided farmers with a comprehensive understanding of the government's credit linkage policies and the potential benefits of embracing these schemes to enhance their lavender cultivation practices.

Farmers expressed their gratitude to SBI authorities for their immense support and guidance, emphasizing the crucial role of such initiatives in propelling the growth of lavender cultivation and associated value-added practices. The event showcased a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences, creating a collaborative environment where farmers and experts engaged in productive discussions.
