In the picturesque northern province of Chiang Rai in Thailand, rice farmer Tanyapong Jaikham has transformed his fields into a vibrant canvas, using sprouting rainbow seedlings to create captivating depictions of cartoon cats. Inspired by a traditional proverb celebrating abundance, the intricate artwork showcases a sleeping cat embracing a fish, visible in its full glory when viewed from the air.
Tanyapong, along with a dedicated team of workers, meticulously planted the seedlings at strategic locations in the rice field, guided by GPS coordinates derived from an initial artist's sketch. As the plants grow, their changing tints contribute to the evolving masterpiece, ultimately culminating in the portrait of Cooper, the cat that served as the artistic muse.
Anticipating a surge in interest from tourists and cat enthusiasts, Tanyapong expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We're expecting tens of thousands to come and see the art in the rice fields." To enhance the viewing experience, the farmer revealed plans for constructing viewing towers in the surrounding area.

The creative initiative not only adds a touch of whimsy to the agricultural landscape but also aligns with Thailand's aspirations to combine tourism and agriculture. With the country being the world's second-largest exporter of rice, after India, this unconventional approach provides a unique opportunity to diversify the utility of rice fields.
Recognizing the educational possibilities inherent in the project, Tanyapong envisions it as a valuable learning experience for young individuals intrigued by the fusion of art and technology. He emphasized that in the past, rice fields were primarily regarded as sources of consumption, but this innovative approach now enables the concurrent development of tourism and agriculture.
