Revolutionizing Agricultural Practices: ATMA Trains Farmers to Increase Crop Yield

In a concerted effort to revolutionize agricultural practices and bolster crop yield, the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) has been taking strides in educating and training farmers across the state. The latest endeavours of ATMA have been focused on equipping farmers with the latest machinery and technological advancements to enhance their crop production. Several recent events underscore these efforts, showcasing a commitment to knowledge dissemination and practical implementation.

Dimapur's Paddy Field Day: Bridging the Knowledge Gap

The Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Dimapur, joined hands with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) to organize a "Field Day" dedicated to enhancing paddy cultivation. The event, held on August 23 at Bade village, showcased the promising variety RCM-14 and provided farmers with valuable insights. Kaiho Achumi, an expert from ATMA, Dhansiripar Block, served as the resource person, enlightening farmers about the advantages of RCM-14.

The event also encompassed a "Capacity Building" program for the Sede Khro Self Help Group (SHG) at Khriezephe village. This session aimed to empower SHG participants to undertake various enterprises with minimal investments, promoting self-reliance.

Cultivating Knowledge and Cabbage

Florence Jishing, another proficient member of ATMA Dhansiripar Block, shared her expertise on the intricacies of cultivating cabbage. Her insightful presentation shed light on best practices and cultivation techniques. After the sessions, participants were generously equipped with essential tools such as khurpi, sickle, garden gloves, and cabbage seeds, enabling them to put their newfound knowledge into action.

ATMA Ongpangkong North Block: Nurturing Nutrition Gardens

The ATMA initiative extended to Ongpangkong North Block in Mokokchung, where a training program was conducted at Settsu village on August 21. Samuel Anar, an expert in agronomy from KVK Tuensang, took center stage to discuss "Nutritional Gardens: A Sustainable Model for Food Security and Diversity." Anar's presentation encompassed practical steps for establishing nutrition gardens, emphasizing site selection and recommended plot sizes.

The training delved into nursery bed preparation, the distinction between companion crops and nutrient feeders, and ways to ensure a diverse and secure food source. The training also distributed valuable inputs, including high-value crop seeds such as Chinese cabbage, broccoli, knolkhol, pole beans, and coriander.

Mon's Agri-Revolution: Mushroom Cultivation and More

In yet another stride, ATMA Mon, Angjangyang block, orchestrated a demonstration program on August 17 at Jakphang village. The focus was on the nuances of nursery bed preparation for vegetables and the production technology of oyster mushrooms. Nemchaba Jamir, the resource person of the training, highlighted the significance of raising healthy seedlings in nurseries and their effective management until transplantation. Another expert, Longrikaba Ao, provided in-depth insights into oyster mushroom cultivation, demonstrating the entire production process. The event attracted 15 dedicated farmers eager to refine their practices.

ATMA's unwavering commitment to educating and empowering farmers has culminated in a series of impactful programs that bridge the gap between traditional and modern agricultural practices.
