Renowned Rice Mill Entrepreneur Ramesh Nayak to Receive 'Billionaire Farmer' Award from PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to confer the prestigious 'Billionaire Farmer' award upon Ramesh Nayak, a pioneering rice mill entrepreneur and progressive farmer from Udupi district. The recognition comes in light of Nayak's remarkable achievements, particularly in the realm of agribusiness, where he has garnered an impressive turnover exceeding Rs one crore in a single year.

Residing in Kedoor village of the taluk, Nayak has transformed 13 acres of land into a thriving agricultural paradise. A fervent nature lover, he has cultivated an astounding 1634 different breeds of fruits, representing 11 diverse types.

One of Nayak's noteworthy achievements is the cultivation of 30,000 pineapple plants, ingeniously using mud from rainwater pits to foster their growth. Integrating permaculture principles, he has strategically interspersed papaya plants between the pineapple rows, showcasing an ingenious approach to maximizing yield and biodiversity.
The biodiversity on Nayak's farm extends beyond pineapples and papayas. A striking 285 types of jackfruit trees, including Dengue Surya, Prakashchandra, Vietnam Super Arli, Singapur, and Attavara breeds, adorn his land. Additionally, the forward-thinking farmer has embraced the cultivation of 500 dragon fruit trees, further diversifying the agricultural landscape.
