Punjab Government Transfers Rs 10,182 Crore in MSP Payments to 2.75 Lakh Farmers Across the State
Underlining the government's commitment to timely payments, the Minister revealed that 17 districts in the state have successfully transferred over 100% of the due MSP to the farmers. This accomplishment aligns with the prescribed norms of making payments within 48 hours of purchase.
In a significant development, the Punjab Minister for Food and Civil Supplies announced the successful transfer of over Rs 10,182 crore as Minimum Support Price (MSP) directly into the accounts of approximately 2.75 lakh farmers across the state. This initiative underscores the state government's unwavering commitment to supporting its farming community and ensuring their financial well-being.
Despite the festivities of Dussehra, a day of great celebration in the region, the procurement machinery was in full swing. On this auspicious day, a staggering 1.2 crore bags of procured paddy were efficiently lifted from grain markets situated across the state.
Commending the effectiveness of the state's procurement system, the Minister remarked, "Currently, the marketplaces are receiving nearly 530,000 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy daily, and virtually all the incoming paddy is successfully bought by day's end."

Underlining the government's commitment to timely payments, the Minister revealed that 17 districts in the state have successfully transferred over 100% of the due MSP to the farmers. This accomplishment aligns with the prescribed norms of making payments within 48 hours of purchase. In addition, three districts have disbursed over 95% of the due payment, while the remaining three districts have also made significant strides, with over 85% of the due payments processed.
Mansa district emerged as a shining example, having surpassed expectations by transferring a remarkable 125% of due payments within the stipulated 48-hour timeframe.

The efficient procurement system has facilitated the arrival of more than 55.88 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the grain markets as of Tuesday. Impressively, nearly 53.95 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have already been procured, ensuring farmers receive their much-needed income without delay.
This commendable achievement highlights Punjab's dedication to the welfare of its farming community and reinforces the state's pivotal role in India's agricultural landscape.
