President Murmu Set to Launch Bihar's 4th Agriculture Road Map in Patna to Promote Cost-Effective Farming
The launch of the 4th Agriculture Road Map signals the state government's commitment to modernizing and bolstering the agricultural sector, catering to the diverse agricultural needs of Bihar's varied regions. The Agriculture Minister underlined that specific incentives are in place for rain-fed and arid regions, with a focus on coarse grains like millets, which will benefit areas such as Gaya and other parts of Magadh.
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate Bihar's 4th Agriculture Road Map in a ceremony to be held today in Patna. This newly updated Agriculture Road Map incorporates several key enhancements and is slated for implementation from 2023 to 2028.
In a conversation with Akashvani News, Agriculture Minister Kumar Sarvjeet revealed that the five-year plan is designed to promote agriculture, considering the unique geographical and soil characteristics of various regions within the state. He emphasized that this initiative aims to facilitate cost-effective farming while increasing productivity in staple crops such as paddy, wheat, makhana, and others.
Minister Sarvjeet also highlighted the government's intent to establish small-scale storage facilities at the Panchayat level, which will not only ensure better prices for farmers but also shield them from distress sales. Furthermore, plans are underway to set up cold storage facilities in areas dedicated to green vegetable cultivation.

The Agriculture Minister underlined that specific incentives are in place for rain-fed and arid regions, with a focus on coarse grains like millets, which will benefit areas such as Gaya and other parts of Magadh. Under this Agriculture Road Map, several centers of excellence will be established.
Notably, Gaya will house a Center for Excellence in Millets, intended to promote scientific and efficient farming practices. Additionally, there are proposals to create centers of excellence for betel, tea, honey, and other sectors, with a view to augmenting the income of farmers across the state.
