The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is gearing up to host the second Punjab Sarkar-Kisan Milni, a meeting between the government and farmers, on Thursday. Following that, a conclave for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) farmers will take place on Friday. To ensure smooth proceedings for the meeting on May 11, a review meeting was held at PAU on Tuesday.

The NRI farmers' conclave will feature 15 progressive farmers from countries like Australia, Canada, the USA, Tanzania, and Zambia. These farmers will share their experiences of farming on foreign lands and provide suggestions for innovative ways to enhance income. On May 12, an interface between NRI farmers and Punjabi farmers will be held at Sher Gill farm, Una road, Hoshiarpur.

PAU Vice-Chancellor, Satbir Singh Gosal, mentioned that the second Sarkar-Kisan Milni is being organized based on the success of the first meeting held in February. The objective is to make agriculture more effective, productive, and lucrative by addressing the contemporary issues faced by farmers.

Gosal highlighted that the milni and conclave aim to mitigate various agrarian problems, particularly those related to natural resources like water depletion. They also aim to discourage the use of water-intensive paddy varieties and focus on the timely management of pests such as whitefly and pink bollworm in cotton during the current Kharif season.
