Odisha-CM Naveen Patnaik Asks Farmers To Use Latest Technology In Farming

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asked farmers to adopt the latest technology and also discussed the need for farm mechanization and crop diversification. Patnaik said there is a great requirement for technology in the field of agriculture and technology is the basis of development.

On Thursday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asked farmers to adopt the latest technology and also discussed the need for farm mechanization and crop diversification.

While inaugurating the 3-day ‘Krushi Odisha’-2023, CM Patnaik said,” If farmers will use technology properly in the farm sector, it will benefit them and their state. ‘Emerging Technology in Agriculture’ is the new theme of this year’s event and will continue till February 18.”

Patnaik said there is a great requirement for technology in the field of agriculture and technology is the basis of development. CM also said that Odisha has become a leading state in the agri sector and the development of agriculture and farmers is the priority of his government.

Odisha has emerged as a food-surplus state from being a food-deficient one, the chief minister added. The chief minister said that Under the state government’s ‘KALIA scheme’, Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation has worked as a security for the farmers who face problems collecting funds for cultivation On.

In 2018, the Odisha government launched the KALIA scheme, under which the farmers are given Rs 4,000 in two equal instalments per year. In order to raise the income and productivity of farmers, the Odisha government has launched Panas (jackfruit) and Chathu (mushroom) Missions.

Patnaik said,” along with the Millet (Mandia) Mission, these two missions also help the farmers. The Mandia Mission has snatched the attention of the whole country and the world today. It has also helped in increasing the income of the self-help groups.

Speaking on the occasion, Arabinda Padhee, the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department Secretary said,” the state has planned to set up around 1000 cold storage centres soon. The storage capacity of each unit will be 10-15 metric tonnes and it will be solar-powered facilities.”
