New Holland Launches UltraFeed Pickup Head for Forage Harvesters
New Holland, a leader in agricultural machinery, unveils the UltraFeed pickup head for FR Forage Cruiser harvesters, and aims to improve crop flow and operator productivity.
New Holland, a prominent player in the agricultural machinery industry, is renowned for delivering high-quality tractors. The brand provides their durable and quality tractors with cutting-edge technology. Through innovation and a customer-centric approach, New Holland consistently provides top-tier tractors, ensuring reliability and efficiency for farmers worldwide.
New Holland has recently launched the UltraFeed pickup head for their FR Forage Cruiser self-propelled forage harvesters, boasting a 13-foot working width. This innovative head is designed to efficiently handle larger windrows, enhancing crop flow through the channel. The company emphasizes that the revamped design optimizes both horsepower and cutter head capacity, ultimately boosting operator productivity.
Josh Harkenrider, the commercial hay and forage marketing manager for New Holland, highlights the strategic engineering behind the UltraFeed head. Its development aims to enhance the FR Forage Cruiser's efficiency across diverse crop types, allowing for modulated and equalized crop flow that aligns with the harvester's production capabilities.
As part of the redesign, a belt-driven driveline has been integrated into the UltraFeed head, increasing capacity, and uptime, and extending the head's service life. The driveline, combined with a new auger design, ensures a smoother crop flow into the forage harvester's feed rolls.

To further optimize crop flow, a large roller wind guard has been introduced, compressing large swaths ahead of the pickup reel, which is advantageous for handling light windrows. The incorporation of mesh at the top of the head enables operators to monitor crop flow into the FR Forage Cruiser, with optional LED lights for enhanced visibility.
In an effort to streamline routine maintenance, an optional auto greasing system can be added to the UltraFeed head, reducing maintenance time alongside new tine hardware. Melissa Kelly, the livestock and dairy segment lead for New Holland, emphasizes significant throughput improvements across various crop conditions and cut lengths based on extensive testing by the product validation team.
