In a historic event at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre on Wednesday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Mukhyamantri Krishak Mitra Yojana, a significant initiative aimed at boosting the agricultural community.

During the inauguration, the Chief Minister personally registered the names of two farmers, Namita from Harda district, and Premnarayan Panwar from Sehore.

In the inaugural year of the scheme, the government is set to provide 10,000 permanent agricultural pump connections to farmers, demonstrating full dedication and commitment to rural development. Furthermore, the scheme's funding will be a shared responsibility, with the state government and the electricity distribution company each covering 50% of the costs.

Farmers will contribute the remaining 50% toward infrastructure development expenses, while the power distribution company will be tasked with maintaining power supply lines and transformers.

Chief Minister Chouhan voiced deep appreciation for the unwavering commitment of farmers, attributing their dedication to Madhya Pradesh's prominent status in the agricultural sector.

He celebrated the international recognition garnered by the state for its outstanding Sharbati wheat and Ginnaur rice, highlighting a remarkable evolution in cereal production from 159 lakh metric tons in 2002-03 to an impressive 619 lakh metric tons.

Discussing recent challenges, the Chief Minister highlighted, how Madhya Pradesh confronted a potential drought-like situation as rainfall patterns became erratic, causing crops to wither. However, placing his faith in intervention from Lord Mahakal, he witnessed the revival of the monsoon, replenishing dams to their brims. He reassured the gathered audience that the electricity supply is now being managed efficiently, addressing any concerns in this regard.

Energy Minister Pradhyuman Singh Tomar addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of the Mukhyamantri Krishak Mitra Yojana for the state's farming community.
