Maharashtra Government Allocates Rs 1,500 Crore for Rain-Affected Farmers

In a bid to support farmers who suffered crop losses during the heavy rains of the 2022 monsoon season, the Maharashtra government has announced a fresh part of financial assistance amounting to Rs 1,500 crore. The state's relief and rehabilitation department released an official statement on Wednesday, revealing that 26,50,951 farmers across the region will benefit from this compensation.

The aid is intended to provide relief to farmers who were unable to receive financial assistance earlier due to technical reasons. The statement further elaborated that these farmers collectively endured losses of over 15.96 lakh hectares of land. Recognizing the plight of these cultivators, the state cabinet, during its meeting on June 13, decided to compensate those who had not received aid in the earlier rounds of disbursement due to the aforementioned technical issues.
