Maha Govt Initiates Disbursement of Rs 1,720 Crore to Farmers Under Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has highlighted the significance of this scheme, emphasizing that the additional Rs 6,000 provided annually by the state is a supplement to the Rs 6,000 disbursed in installments per year under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana by the Central government.
In a notable initiative aimed at strengthening and assisting the agricultural community, the Maharashtra government has approved the allocation of the initial tranche of Rs 1,720 crore under the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, demonstrating its commitment to empower and uplift farmers. A Government Resolution (GR) to this effect has been issued by the state Agriculture Department, outlining the deposit of this substantial amount into the bank accounts of the dedicated cultivators.
This new financial scheme, aimed at bolstering the agricultural sector, will benefit over 1 crore farmers in the state by providing them with Rs 6,000 annually. The Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana was officially approved during a Cabinet meeting in May, making it a landmark initiative for the farming community.
The scheme itself was unveiled as part of the 2023-24 budget, with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who held the finance portfolio at that time, introducing the ambitious plan. The vision behind this initiative is to enhance the livelihoods and well-being of farmers, who form the backbone of the state's economy.
