JSP President Pawan Kalyan Demands Help For Rain-Hit Farmers
Kalyan said that once the Jana Sena Party forms the government in Andhra Pradesh, it would evolve a special policy to automatically compensate farmers whose crops are damaged or lost due to calamities. Kalyan also asked the government to give assurance of assistance to mango and maize farmers and all horticulture farmers.
Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government provide adequate compensation to farmers who have suffered crop losses due to untimely rains in the state. In a statement, he expressed concern over the huge losses being incurred by farmers and said it was high time for the government to come to their rescue.
He claimed that crops spread over three lakh acres, including paddy, mango, maize, banana, and chillies, had been damaged. Kalyan alleged that the government had not procured the 'Jaya' variety of paddy cultivated in the Godavari district and farmers were being forced to sell their produce to middlemen at a loss of Rs 300 per quintal. He demanded that the government immediately conduct a crop loss enumeration and pay compensation accordingly.
Kalyan said that once the Jana Sena Party forms the government in Andhra Pradesh, it would evolve a special policy to automatically compensate farmers whose crops are damaged or lost due to calamities. He added that they were discussing with farmers' representatives and economists to bring a special policy to assist farmers and tenant farmers.
Kalyan also asked the government to give assurance of assistance to mango and maize farmers and all horticulture farmers. He called on the government to act fast and provide adequate compensation to the affected farmers, who were already facing losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In conclusion, Pawan Kalyan emphasized the urgent need to help the farmers who are facing severe crop losses due to untimely rains in the state. He urged the government to take immediate action to provide compensation to the farmers and to implement policies that would automatically compensate them in the future.
