Jammu Kickstarts Crop Insurance Week with Awareness Van Launch
Jammu celebrates the 6th Crop Insurance Week with a special event at Krishi Bhawan. Director Ram Savak launched the Fasal Bima Yojna Awareness Van and emphasized the importance of securing farmers' livelihoods.

To mark the 6th Crop Insurance Week, there was a special event at Krishi Bhawan in Jammu. The Director of the Agriculture Production Department, Ram Savak, kicked things off by launching the Fasal Bima Yojna Awareness Van. The event had folks from Iffco Tokio General Insurance Companies, Reliance General Insurance, and the Agriculture Department.
The plan is to inform farmers in Jammu about Crop Insurance through workshops, bank visits, and CSC centers. IFFCO TOKIO Insurance Company is teaming up with the Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Department in Jammu for this campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal BhimaYojna (PMFBY). They'll share Education,Information, and Communication (IEC) materials during the Rabi season of 2023-24.

During the event, the Agriculture Director stressed how important Crop Insurance Week is. The aim is to make sure farmers are well aware and sign up for the Crop Insurance scheme in the Rabi season of 2023-24. He pointed out that Fasal Bima Yojna is there to help farmers deal with financial risks from crop losses, keep their income steady, and maintain a good flow of credit in the Agriculture Sector.
The Awareness Van is set to tour all the panchayats in Jammu District to spread the word about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) among local farmers. The Director earnestly urged farmers to participate in the program, highlighting its advantages, particularly in protecting crops such as Paddy and Maize from weather-related risks in the Kharif season and Wheat in the Rabi season.

He emphasized the affordability of the scheme, mentioning that the premium is quite low, standing at just 2% for the Kharif season and 1.5% for the Rabi season, following the Scale of Finance. This makes it accessible for farmers, ensuring they can safeguard their crops and livelihoods without putting a significant financial burden on them. The Director highlighted how crucial it is for farmers to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their crops and secure their income.
