Ivar Agro plans to invest Rs 200 crore to establish a cutting-edge millet-based food products project that will also provide large-scale employment to locals. Ivar Agro's millet-based products, including Bajra Biscuits and Cookies, are expected to hit domestic and international markets during the festive season in 2023.

Farmers in Biharigarh, Uttarakhand, awoke on February 28 to witness a remarkable transformation that is scheduled to take place during the International Year of Millets 2023. Locals witnessed the formal start of the life-changing agro-business project as Ivar Agro's top management and the expert team gathered to formally announce the start of work and hold a stakeholder meeting to expedite the work at the project site.

"Ivar Agro is a new business venture that aims to provide healthy and sustainable food options to the people of India. Our primary focus is on millet-based products, and we intend to begin with millet biscuits. With a monthly production capacity of 1,000 tonnes, the company aims to empower millet growers in the country by allowing them to be our partners in the large-scale production of millet-based food items," says Vijay Gupta, Founder and Managing Director, Ivar Agro Manufacturing, who conceptualized the project before the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequently acquired nearly 15 acres in Biharigarh to launch a farmer-centric project.

"We are extremely optimistic that by launching a millet-based food product initiative, there would be an increase in demand for millet-based goods like millet flour, millet flakes, and millet-based snacks like biscuits and cookies.” According to Dhananjay Gupta, Director, and COO of Ivar Agro, “this rise in demand may lead to higher millet prices and more stable income for farmers.”

Ivar Agro wants to give Biharigarh residents job opportunities. In the future, for backward linkage, it also intends to offer training and assistance to millet farmers, assisting them to raise the caliber of their harvests, adopt sustainable farming methods, and establish market connections.
