IoTechWorld Avigation, a leading agri-drone manufacturer, announced on Friday that it has signed an MoU with Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbhani, Maharashtra, to promote the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to boost farm productivity in the country.

The agreement between the Gurugram-based company and a leading academic institution will raise farmer awareness for the use of technology to increase farm output while also furthering research in drone technology.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Vice Chancellor of VNMKV, Dr. Indra Mani and Co-Founder & Director, Anoop Kumar Upadhyay signed the MoU on the behalf of IoTechWorld Avigation.

Last month, the agricultural drone manufacturer announced a similar collaboration with Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), an agriculture university in Rahuri, Maharashtra.

According to Upadhyay, IoTechWorld Avigation is at the forefront of promoting drone technology and forming partnerships with universities to further research activities.

In terms of the MoU with VNMKV, he stated that both parties will collaborate in science and technology and promote the use of drones in agriculture.

"Both parties will collaborate to develop an agricultural training centre and a Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) at VNMKV University," he added.

Deepak Bhardwaj, Co-founder of IoTechWorld, stated that collaborations with universities will allow the company to conduct additional research in drone technology while also raising awareness among farmer groups.

"The use of agri-drone is catching up among farmers and several farmers' organizations have joined the campaign. "These unmanned aerial robots are extremely useful because they not only save money but also time," he said.

Another major goal of the collaboration is to create a farmer-friendly training module and drone pilots at the proposed RPTO at the university. He added that IoTechWorld will be the technical partner in establishing a Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) for agricultural drones with VNMKV, which will help reduce the country's drone pilot shortage.

According to government statistics, India will need at least a lakh drone pilots by next year. It should be noted that IoTechWorld has its RPTO where farmers can learn how to fly drones. In addition, the company assists farmers in obtaining drone pilot licenses.
