Hisar: Farmers' Protest Demanding Compensation for Crops Destroyed by Rain
The farmers had issued an ultimatum, vowing to surround the mini-secretariat to draw attention to their demands for compensation. On Thursday, a procession of farmers on tractors started converging on the location with the intention of executing the "gherao." However, their progress was thwarted as the police intervened to maintain order.
In a display of frustration and demand for compensation, local farmers took to the streets on Thursday, protesting against the state government. The protest was in response to the widespread destruction of their crops caused by recent heavy rains. The farmers, however, faced opposition from the police as they attempted to march towards the Hisar mini-secretariat as part of their protest.
The police intervened by stopping the farmers on the main roads outside the city, preventing them from reaching the Hisar mini-secretariat which they intended to 'gherao' (surround) as a mark of their protest. The locations where the farmers were stopped included the Hisar-Sirsa bypass, Rajgarh, and Balsamand roads. The police had strategically placed obstacles such as dumpers, roadways buses, and barricades to hinder the farmers' progress.
Tensions escalated as the farmers attempted to break through the barricades set up by the police. Unfortunately for the farmers, the police had strategically placed dumpers filled with sand and gravel in front of the barricades, effectively preventing the protesters from advancing further.

One of the major roadways affected by the protest was the Sirsa-Delhi National Highway, which experienced a temporary blockage as the police halted the farmers, many of whom were operating tractors, on the Hisar bypass. The resultant traffic congestion spilled over to the Hisar-Sirsa-Delhi bypass, causing inconvenience to commuters.

The protest highlights the ongoing challenges faced by farmers and their concerns over compensation for their damaged crops. The clash between the farmers and the police underscores the intensity of emotions running high on both sides of the issue. As the situation remains tense, authorities are working to find a resolution that addresses the grievances of the farmers while also ensuring public safety and order.
