Himachal Pradesh Sets July 15 as Last Date for Kharif Crop Insurance Enrollment
The government's initiative to set a clear deadline for kharif crop insurance enrollment demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding the interests of farmers in Himachal Pradesh.
In a bid to support farmers in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has announced that July 15 will be the final date for availing crop insurance for kharif crops, specifically maize and paddy. The decision aims to ensure that farmers have adequate time to secure insurance coverage for their crops. Officials have urged all concerned officers to extensively publicize the scheme across various mediums to ensure maximum participation and benefit for farmers.
V.K. Soni, Deputy Director of Agriculture, emphasized the significance of creating awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which is being implemented by the Agriculture Insurance Company in the district. Under this scheme, the insured amount for maize and paddy crops is set at Rs 60,000 per hectare, with premiums fixed at 11 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
To further disseminate information about the crop insurance scheme, Soni has requested representatives from the insurance company to visit training camps organized by the agriculture and other related departments. By actively engaging with farmers at these camps, the aim is to enhance understanding and encourage enrollment in the scheme.
