Several residents of Karimnagar, Warangal, and Hanamkonda colonies have received a shock as water entered their homes. Farmers alleged that even though the state government opened procurement centers a month ago, officials did not purchase their produce.
The heavy rainfall, hailstorm, and gusty winds that started on Sunday morning have caused extensive damage to crops in the former Karimnagar and Warangal districts. The standing and harvested crops stored in farms and purchasing centres have been destroyed in areas such as Dharmaram, Mutharam, Mallapur, Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Karimnagar Rural, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Bhupalpally, Narsampet, and Narmetta mandals.
The impact of the heavy downpour has caused several damages, including the death of a farmer in Kalvasriram mandal of Peddapalli, who got electrocuted due to lightning. In addition, a fire broke out at Zilla Parishad High School in Ibrahimpatnam mandal of Jagtial district after overhead electrical wires snapped and fell on the school, causing furniture to be damaged.
Asbestos roofs of roadside shops and tiles of some houses in many villages and towns have been blown off, causing widespread damage to infrastructure. Power supply has been disrupted in many areas due to the uprooting of electric poles or snapping of electricity wires.
Trees falling on roads have brought vehicular movement to a standstill in some parts of both districts.
