The government of Gujarat to compensate affected farmers. Teams have been deployed to assess crop losses in the affected areas. Compensation of Rs 1.62 crore has already been paid for 1,129 cattle deaths.

On Monday, the government of Gujarat announced its commitment to providing compensation to farmers who have incurred losses in their crops, orchards, and livestock as a result of the Biparjoy cyclone. Additionally, an initial assessment has revealed that the state's power infrastructure has sustained significant damage amounting to Rs 783 crore.

Rushikesh Patel, Gujarat Health Minister, and government spokesperson told that the impacts of Biparjoy have led to heavy impacts on farmers. Many teams have been deployed for a detailed assessment of affected districts. Additionally, he also said that after receiving the ongoing survey Gujarat Government will reimburse affected farmers and cattle rears who lose their cattle due to the heavy impact caused by cyclone Biparjoy.

Once the ongoing survey reports are obtained, the state government will proceed to compensate the affected farmers and cattle rearers accordingly, ensuring their recovery and support, told Patel.

Preliminary findings from the survey indicated that Gujarat's power infrastructure has incurred substantial damage estimated at Rs 783 crore due to the impact of Cyclone Biparjoy. Following the cyclone's landfall on June 15, power outages were reported in 6,486 villages. However, efforts are underway to restore electricity in these areas, with power already reinstated in 5,753 villages, according to the Health Minister. He further said that compensation of Rs 1.62 crore has been already made to farmers with 1,129 cattle death. He said that due to cyclone occurrence around 1,320 cattle died and 1,900 poultry birds lost their life.

According to reports, it was also told that due to heavy winds and lightning around 14,8000 fruit-bearing trees were uprooted from 53,000 hectares of land in regions of Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka, Kutch, Jamnagar, and Porbandar districts.

The Health Minister expressed his gratitude towards meticulous disaster management strategies and the successful evacuation of nearly 1 lakh individuals from at-risk areas before the cyclone's landfall, there were no casualties among the residents. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of proactive measures in safeguarding human lives during such natural disasters.
