Government Launches Program to Help Farmers Manage Crop Residues
Dr. Jaswant Rai, the Chief Agriculture Officer, announced that the government is offering subsidies to farmers for the procurement of stubble management machinery, specifically for paddy straw, as part of the Crop Residue Management (CRM) scheme.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Jaswant Rai has introduced a promising program to assist farmers in effectively handling crop residues, especially paddy straw. The government is offering crucial subsidies to acquire machinery for stubble management through the Crop Residue Management (CRM) scheme.
The initiative aims to support farmers in efficiently managing crop residues, particularly paddy straw, and protect the environment by mitigating air pollution and preventing the loss of essential nutrients and soil micro-organisms.
The CRM scheme also promotes responsible residue management through mechanization, such as incorporating residues into the soil or collecting them for further use, and the creation of Farm Machinery Banks to ensure that all farmers, including small-scale farmers, have access to crop residue management machinery. The initiative also aims the creation of Farm Machinery Banks.

Within this effort, machines procured under the scheme in the 2023-24 fiscal year will undergo physical inspections on November 1. These verifications will take place at the relevant Block Agriculture Offices.
In Block Mahilpur, inspections will occur in Paldi village, near Nagra Palace, and in Block Talwara, they will be conducted at the Cooperative Sabha in Darapur village. Farmers in need of verification support are advised to contact their respective Block Agriculture Officer for further assistance.

Dr. Jaswant Rai has appealed to farmers to make the most of these machines and share their benefits with others, especially small and marginal farmers. This will help to ensure the timely management of crop residues and reduce the need for burning, promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural ecosystem.
