Farmers' Day: Naveen Kumar Chowdhury, Principal Secretary, Department of Agricultural Production and Farmer Welfare, Advocates Aloe Vera, Lime Grass Cultivation in Jammu

Naveen Kumar Chowdhury today inaugurated a one-day exhibition cum showcasing the latest technology jointly organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and SCUST Jammu in association with IFFCO Jammu on the occasion of Farmers' Day.

Jammu, Dec 23: Naveen Kumar Chowdhury today inaugurated a one-day exhibition cum showcasing the latest technology jointly organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and SCUST Jammu in association with IFFCO Jammu on the occasion of Farmers' Day.

In addition to the agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and sheep breeding departments, other line units also contributed to the event, which was attended by farmers, agro-industrialists, private companies, public representatives, line branches, and other stakeholders.

Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Chaudhary asked the concerned authorities to hold regular seminars on skills development training programs in agricultural institutions.

He emphasized that 50 percent of research projects should be designed based on the problems of farmers and specific needs.

The Principal Secretary stressed that along with proper packaging to increase the income of the farmers, many possible activities like mechanization, diversification, cultivation of commercial crops, floriculture, premium vegetables, spices, medicinal plants, and gardens should be followed in agriculture.

He briefed the House on the aloe vera oil extraction plants at Kathua, Samba, and Udhampur. He advocated the cultivation of aloe vera, lemongrass, and other medicinal plants in rainfed areas apart from the high-density orchards in the Jammu plains.

The Principal Secretary honored the progressive farmers including women farmers for their outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture and allied sectors in the region.

On this occasion, the district heads of the respective departments with the farmers informed the farmers about the activities and development plans of various departments.

Demonstration of latest technologies, agricultural machinery, seeds and planting equipment, small tools and equipment, live demonstration, fruits, vegetable display, Murra, Sahiwal, display of fine species small ruminants, kadaknat, traditional food, on-the-spot testing facility, agricultural startups, Kisan ghosthi, And the Crop Seminar focused on the one-day Farmers' Day event and remained impressive.

Also, Agriculture & Allied Sector, IFFCO (Nano Urea), ABX Crops, Netafim, Frontech, STIHL, Alpha Ecosystem, RK Sprayer, Supreme Feed, Soil Testing Lab, Founders, Progressive Farmers, Self Help Groups, FPOs, AshaWorker Others showcased their performance and techniques at the event at KVK.

Director Extension, SKUAST Jammu, Director Agriculture, Dr. SK Gupta, Director, Director of Sheep Breeding. KK Sharma, IFFCO State Marketing Manager Krishan Lal, Joginder Pal Mehta, officials of other line departments, and progressive farmers in the Jammu district were present. They shared their views during the event.
