Farmer Unions Will Begin 'Rail Roko' In Gurdaspur On February 22
Thousands of farmers, including women, would take part in the 'Rail Roko' in Gurdaspur, according to the KMSC leaders.

Following a meeting of the farmer union, General Secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher announced that the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee is prepared for the 'Rail Roko' protest against the government at Gurdaspur beginning on February 22 over unfair compensation for land acquisition for the Bharat Mala project.
Pandher claimed that while some powerful individuals were receiving higher compensation for the land, others were receiving significantly less. He said that the administration had not explained why the two adjacent plots were paid differently.
Thousands of farmers, including women, would take part in the rail roko in Gurdaspur, according to the KMSC leaders. They claimed that among the other requests were the payment of outstanding sugarcane debts, compensation, and employment for the relatives of farmers killed during the fuss at the Delhi border.
They claimed that the Center had not yet introduced a bill establishing the MSP's legal guarantee. It's odd that farmers had to start a protest to obtain just recompense for their land.
At a public gathering held in Raipur village, members of the Jamhoori Kisan Sabha asked that the government set the MSP for all crops, including vegetables. They also urged that the MSP for milk be established.
"We also demand that the function of purchasing, storing, and distributing food supplies should be done through public sector units and corporate entities are kept at bay," stated Association President Dr. Satnam Singh Ajnala. A new agriculture strategy that safeguards the interests of farmers was advocated by the association.
