Expanding The Horizons- Mahindra Launched A New Plant Dedicated To Farm Machinery in Pithampur

Setting up new milestones and enhancing the brand, Mahindra inaugurated its first dedicated farm machinery plant (non-tractor) in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. On November 15, 2022, Under Mahindra & Mahindra Farm Equipment Sector (FES), a new plant was launched by the Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. The following event was attended by key state officials, eminent personalities, and senior leaders from Mahindra & Mahindra group.

Setting up new milestones and enhancing the brand, Mahindra inaugurated its first ever dedicated farm machinery plant (non-tractor) in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.

On November 15, 2022, Under Mahindra & Mahindra Farm Equipment Sector (FES), a new plant was launched by the Honorable Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. The following event was attended by key state officials, eminent personalities, and senior leaders from Mahindra & Mahindra group.

As per the official statement of the company, the newly launched plant is strategically located in Pithampur's industrial city, with access to a diverse supplier base, allowing the company to manufacture durable, high-quality, affordable, and accessible products made in India for Indian farm machinery under the Mahindra and Swaraj brands. The plant will also produce goods for export to Asian, African, European, and American markets.

It is expected that this new plant will be potent for manufacturing cutting-edge farm machinery with advanced technology designed at Mahindra's global tech Centres of Excellence in Finland, Japan, and Turkey. With a manufacturing capacity of 12,00 combine harvesters and 3,300 rice transplanters per year, the new plant covers a foot area of 23 acres. The Pithampur plant, along with its dedicated supplier park, is expected to employ 1,100 people in the long run.

The Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, said at the new farm machinery plant launch, "It gives me immense pleasure to be here at the launch of this one-of-a-kind facility for farm machinery. The Group is increasing its investment by launching a brand-new greenfield facility in Pithampur to manufacture 'Made in India' farm machinery. Mahindra has made one of the most notable investments in the state, creating a large number of direct and indirect jobs in the area.  This is a watershed moment not only for Mahindra but also for the country and our farmers."

He further commented, "The Government of India has introduced several schemes and policies to support greater mechanization of Indian agriculture, and bringing Aatmanirbarta into farm mechanization is one of them, with our ambition of doubling farm mechanization in India by 2030."

"Mahindra has been the leader in tractorization of India for several decades and is now determined to be a leader in the mechanization of farming," said Hemant Sikka, President, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. He added, "We intend to grow more than tenfold of our farm machinery business in the next five years, and the new farm machinery plant in Pithampur is a critical component in carrying out this strategy successfully."
