E-Vadagai, a mobile app for renting farm equipment to farmers in Tamil Nadu

Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday announced a number of schemes, including an e-Wadgai for farmers, a mobile app for renting farm equipment, paddy fields, and a scheme to provide agricultural inputs for pulses cultivation in cotton.

Chennai: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday announced a number of schemes, including an e-Wadgai for farmers, a mobile app for renting farm equipment, paddy fields, and a scheme to provide agricultural inputs for pulses cultivation in cotton.

E-Vadagai helps farmers to book machines without having to visit farm offices. Through the Uzhavan mobile app, farmers can find out about the latest programs and schemes of the state Department of Agricultural Engineering and allay their doubts. They can also use the app to get details of device rentals and terms of use.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new buildings of the Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Marketing Board constructed at a cost of Rs 97.01 crore. He inaugurated new buildings for the Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Marketing Board in Kanniyakumari, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Theni, Krishnagiri, Tenkasi, Perambalur, and Thiruvarur districts.

Stalin launched a scheme to provide 2,118  types of agricultural machinery with a total subsidy of Rs 50.73 crore and provided machinery to five farmers in the Secretariat. The equipment is being provided at 50 percent subsidy to SC / ST women farmers and 40 percent to other farmers. The scheme will be implemented in all districts except Chennai. The purpose of this scheme can be obtained at www.agrimachinery.nic.in.
