In a momentous event that brought together the stalwarts of agriculture and journalism, Dr. U.S. Gautam, Deputy Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), visited the KJ Chaupal at Krishi Jagran in Delhi. Invited by MC Dominic, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Krishi Jagran, and Shiny Dominic, Director of Krishi Jagran, Dr. Gautam's visit marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in recognizing the accomplishments of Indian farmers through the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards (MFOI).

Dr. Gautam's journey in the world of agriculture began in the humble village of Mirzamurad, Varanasi district, Uttar Pradesh. Born into a farming family, he immersed himself in the practical aspects of farming while pursuing his studies, laying the foundation for a remarkable career driven by service and innovation.
With a master's degree from BHU Varanasi and a Ph.D. in Dairy Extension from NDRI Karnal under the ICAR fellowship, Dr. Gautam steadily ascended the ranks, serving as an Assistant Extension Specialist in Himachal Pradesh, a principal scientist, head of research programs, and a Zonal Project Director leading numerous Krishi Vigyan Kendras across the nation.

Recognized with several prestigious national and international awards, including the esteemed "Swamy Sahajanand Saraswati Extension Scientist Award" and the ICAR Award, Dr. Gautam's work has received accolades from eminent personalities like the late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India and recipient of the Bharat Ratna.
Mr. Dominic, in his welcome address, expressed his excitement about hosting Dr. Gautam, emphasizing his belief that the Deputy Director General's expertise would help identify not just a few, but millions of millionaire farmers in India. Challenging the notion that farming cannot be a path to wealth, Mr. Dominic unveiled the trophy and logo of the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards (MFOI) during the ceremony, aiming to inspire and motivate farmers to achieve unparalleled success.
Responding to the initiative, Dr. Gautam pledged his support, stating, "With 11,000 scientists linked to ICAR across the country, I salute and support your idea." He stressed the importance of farmers having the right business plan, highlighting India's vast population and the potential for significant profits. Dr. Gautam also encouraged the youth to consider farming as a profession, pointing out the diverse career options available, including poultry, dairy, urban farming, and rooftop farming.
As the insightful discussion concluded, Mamta Jain, Group Editor and CMO of Krishi Jagran, requested Dr. Gautam to honor Mr. and Mrs. Dominic for their unwavering dedication in shaping the organization. Acknowledging their pivotal roles, she emphasized that while Mr. Dominic serves as the foundation, Shiny Dominic plays a vital role in keeping everything intact.
