Chhattisgarh Starts Disbursement of 1st instalment of Rs. 1,895 Crore for 2023-24 Input Subsidy for Farmers

 In a significant step towards supporting farmers and promoting agricultural development, the Chhattisgarh government initiated the disbursement of the first instalment of nearly Rs. 1,895 crores as input subsidy to farmers under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana for the current financial year. The event, titled 'Bharose Ka Sammelan,' took place at Sankara Patan in Chhattisgarh's Durg district on Sunday, coinciding with the commemoration of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on 21 May.

The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana, introduced by the Congress-led government in Chhattisgarh on 21 May 2019, aims to incentivize farmers to enhance crop production, diversify their crops, and expand agricultural land in the state. The state budget for the 2023-24 financial year had initially allocated a total input subsidy of Rs. 6,800 crores for farmers. However, as per the recent government statement, the projected outlay for the year is expected to reach Rs. 8,000 crore.

The disbursement process consists of four instalments, with the first being distributed in May, followed by subsequent payments in August, October, and March 2024. These instalments will collectively amount to Rs. 6,000 crores, further assisting the farming community in Chhattisgarh.

Approximately 24.5 lakh farmers in the state will be benefiting from the first instalment, receiving Rs. 1,895 crores under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel personally oversaw the transfer of funds into the bank accounts of farmers during the Bharose Ka Sammelan.

Since the scheme's inception, the state government has disbursed a total input subsidy of Rs. 18,208 crores, demonstrating its commitment to uplifting the agricultural sector and ensuring the welfare of farmers in Chhattisgarh.

The online mode of payment for this disbursement not only simplifies the process but also ensures transparency and convenience for farmers, who can readily access the funds and utilize them for agricultural purposes.
