Bihar Farmer's Innovative 'Human Energy' Tractor Revolutionizes Agriculture by Operating Without Fuel or Electricity
Sanjeet, the mastermind behind the HE Tractor, explained that the vehicle operates by pedaling, requiring the same effort as cycling.
In a remarkable display of innovation and resourcefulness, a 28-year-old farmer named Sanjeet has built a unique tractor using discarded materials. Unlike traditional tractors that rely on costly fuel or electricity, this budget-friendly creation runs entirely on human energy. Aptly named the HE Tractor, short for Human Energy Tractor, this remarkable invention is set to transform farming practices in the region.
Sanjeet, the mastermind behind the HE Tractor, explained that the vehicle operates by pedaling, requiring the same effort as cycling. To enhance its functionality, he incorporated a rechargeable 5000 mAh battery to power LED headlights. With gears 1 and 4, the tractor can effortlessly maneuver on both roads and fields. It boasts a remarkable carrying capacity of up to 600 kg.
Sanjeet proudly shared that it plows the soil to a depth of 2.5 to 3 inches, equivalent to a regular tractor. Not only does it conserve energy and reduce expenses, but it also ensures the welfare of animals by eliminating their involvement in the plowing process.

Sanjeet emphasized that the HE Tractor outperforms larger tractors when it comes to navigating small spaces and field edges, making it particularly suitable for small-scale farms and garden-based crops. Its operational speed ranges between 5 to 10 kilometers per hour, providing a practical solution for local farmers.
The remarkable HE Tractor gained recognition beyond its village boundaries when Sanjeet presented it at the prestigious India International Science Exhibition held in Goa last year. He stood as the sole representative from Bihar, selected for his groundbreaking innovation. As a testament to its ingenuity, Sanjeet received an award for his model during the exhibition.

The emergence of the HE Tractor showcases the potential of local inventors and the capacity for sustainable solutions within the agricultural sector. As this gains attention, it has the potential to uplift small-scale farmers across Bihar and beyond, offering a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional machinery.
Sanjeet's story serves as an inspiration to aspiring innovators, demonstrating that determination, creativity, and a commitment to sustainability can result in transformative solutions with far-reaching implications. The HE Tractor represents a beacon of hope for farmers seeking affordable and eco-friendly alternatives in their quest to improve agricultural practices.
