IoTechWorld Avigation, a prominent agri-drone manufacturer in India, has recently become the first drone start-up in the country to receive a government subsidy aimed at promoting drone technology in agriculture.

This achievement comes after the company received a Type Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, making it the first Indian drone manufacturer to do so on 14 June 2022.

Shri Shankaranand Chowgule, a farmer from Maharashtra, recently became the first beneficiary of a government scheme in India that aims to promote the use of drones in farming. He received a subsidy in March 2023, and several other farmers have also benefited from this program.

The scheme offers a subsidy of up to Rs. 4 lakh, or 40% of the cost of the drone, to farmers who use drones for agricultural purposes, except agriculture graduates, SC/ST farmers, and those from the North-Eastern region who are classified as marginal farmers.

However, agricultural graduates and marginal farmers from the SC/ST and North-Eastern regions can receive a subsidy of 50% of the drone's cost, up to a maximum of Rs. 5 Lakh. This program has been launched by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under the Sub-mission on Agriculture Mechanization.

On this development, Mr. Anoop Kumar Upadhyay, Co-Founder & Director, IoTechWorld Avigation said, “Government of India is taking umpteen initiate to modernize and transform the agriculture sector in India not only to double farmers’ income but also to make them competent to their peers across the world. This scheme helps the forward-looking farmers immensely and others who haven’t heard or used it should make the best out of it.”

“Shri Chowgule and other farmers who are using agri-drones are the future of India’s agriculture sector. We foresee a dramatic change in India’s agriculture landscape in the future. Not only will it help the country to meet its foodgrain demand, but also we are set to produce for the world too,” said Mr. Deepak Bhardwaj, Co-Founder, and Director of IoTechWorld Avigation.

According to agricultural experts, incorporating drones in farming practices can not only simplify and enhance farmers' tasks but also promote greater productivity and decrease the amount of waste.
