Andhra Pradesh Achieves Record of Providing 124,000 Agricultural Pump Set Connections in the State
Andhra Pradesh's remarkable feat in power supply connections to agriculture pump sets demonstrates the state's commitment to bolstering its agricultural sector and ensuring that farmers have access to reliable sources of power for their irrigation needs.
Andhra Pradesh has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the top position in the country for swiftly providing power connections to agricultural pump sets. The state has set an exemplary record by approving nearly 1.24 lakh connections in the fiscal year 2022-23, surpassing a target of 24,000. This outstanding achievement was reported in the progress report on the implementation of the 20-point program released by the Central Government on Tuesday.
The Center had set a challenging target of 24,852 power supply connections to agricultural pump sets for Andhra Pradesh in the fiscal year 2022-23. Astonishingly, the state far exceeded this target, granting a total of 1,24,311 connections during the same period. AP Genco's Managing Director, KVN Chakradhar Babu, proudly stated, "We have cleared all the applications received during the financial year."

The collective goal nationwide was to electrify 4,54,081 agricultural pump sets. Remarkably, various state governments and Union Territories combined to issue 7,35,338 connections. Rajasthan emerged as the second-best performer, providing electricity connections to 99,137 agricultural pump sets against a target of 44,770. Telangana secured the third spot by granting connections to 89,183 agricultural pump sets, surpassing its target of 25,148 connections. In stark contrast, Punjab lagged behind, offering only 524 connections, significantly short of its target of 1,50,000 connections.
