CHENNAI: For the purpose of raising awareness among young people about agriculture, as well as promoting agricultural tourism, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), a senior body of Indian Universities, has signed a MoU with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The MoU, which will run for one year, says that at least 1,500 students from ordinary universities will be given the opportunity to visit 10 agricultural universities to gain basic knowledge about farming, as well as exposure to agricultural activities. They'll visit programs there, and visit places.
The tour will be designed to give students a complete understanding of agricultural activities. AIU President G Thiruvsagam said, “It takes an hour to raise awareness among the youth about agriculture, agricultural activities, the effects of climate change, and the hard work of our farmers.
