The Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare have teamed up to train 50,000 'Krishi Sakhis' in natural farming.

The program, called the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), will be run by the National Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (NCONF), a subordinate office of the agriculture ministry, serving as the nodal institution. The goal of the program is to help farmers learn about and adopt natural farming practices.

The rural development ministry said that this program is important for making villages more prosperous and helping Self-Help Group (SHG) members become "lakhpathi" (millionaires).

Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary of Rural Livelihoods, highlighted the crucial role of Community Resource Persons (CRPs) in driving social and economic change in rural areas.
