He claimed that 72% of the Punjab community is directly or indirectly involved in farming. As a result, if the farming sector suffers, the state's economy suffers as well.
"The state government will support any business or idea that will help the agriculture sector become profitable," he said.
He stated that the majority of farmers in Punjab were small and marginal, with less than 5 acres of farming land, and that supporting such farmers was critical. "I ask businesses to produce machines with small and marginal farmers in mind as their target market." "The cost of machinery should not exceed Rs 1 lakh per unit," he advised.
He previously stated that the state Agriculture Department was not reaching out to small farmers. "We're working incredibly hard right now to support these farmers so that we can see progress in the sector in the days to come," he said.
Dhaliwal went on to say that during the paddy harvesting season, small farmers were given machinery and that with their help, stubble burning was reduced by 30%. "However, our goal is to put an end to the practice. As a result, we must develop affordable machinery that small farmers can easily purchase and put to use," he asserted.
Over 3,000 machines were displayed at the exhibition by over 200 companies from across the country. Over 5,000 people attended the first day of the exhibition, including farmers, students, and experts from agricultural institutes, as well as agricultural machinery traders.
The Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers' Association supported the expo, which was organized in collaboration with the Punjab State Agriculture Implement Manufacturers' Association.
