The Three Seasons

Based on the regions and climatic conditions crops are sown. Therefore to grow profitable crops in India they are classified as the Kharif season, the Ravi season, and the Zaid season.

Kharif season

Crops are sown during the onset of monsoon in June and harvested from the end of September to October. Crops include rice, jowar, bajra, soybean, sugarcane, legumes, etc.

Rabi season

Crops are sown in mid of November and harvested at the beginning of April to May. These crops are grown with the help of rainwater or using different irrigation techniques. Crops include jower, gram, linseed, rapeseed, mustered, etc.

Zaid Season

These crops are sown during March and harvested at the end of June. Crops include pumpkin, bitter gourd, watermelon, cucumber, muskmelon, etc.

Rice

In India, regions such as Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Assam, and Haryana excel in rice cultivation, as the country is renowned for being a major producer of this staple grain. The profitability of farming is enhanced by the flooded soil required for optimal crop growth.

Cotton

Among India's most valuable commodities, cotton stands out as the country's largest crop production, with Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh emerging as the top three states leading in cash crop cultivation.
Mushroom Farming
Mushroom farming is a highly successful agricultural venture that can be initiated with minimal investment and a small-scale farm, making it an attractive option for entrepreneurs. In India, the states of Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Tripura take the lead as major producers of commercial mushrooms.
