Back in 2010, a resolute group of modest-sized farmers in Nashik embarked on a collective journey with a single purpose, securing the future of their agriculture. Fast-forward to the present and the Sahyadri Farmers’ Producer Company Ltd (FPC) stands as a testament to their determination. In the fiscal year 2022-23, they reported a staggering turnover of Rs 1,007 crore, marking an impressive 28% growth compared to the prior year.

Chairman and Managing Director of Sahyadri Farms, Vilas Shinde, delivered this impressive financial update at the 13th annual general meeting (AGM), where over 2,000 farmer members, directors, and employees gathered.

Journey of Growth

Nestled in Mohadi, Nashik, Sahyadri Farms has come a long way from its humble Rs 13 crore turnover in 2012. They've also extended their support to 48 FPCs, each dedicated to specific horticultural crops and regions, covering pre-harvest and post-harvest activities.

The Fruitful Year

Throughout the fiscal year, they processed and exported around 2,75,327 tonnes of produce from 40,000 acres, farmed by 24,500 affiliated farmers. The revenue, totaling Rs 1,007 crore, comprised Rs 352 crore from exports and Rs 654 crore from domestic markets. Impressively, 53% of sales come from the fresh category, while 47% stem from processed products.

Investment in Progress

Sahyadri Farms boasts a substantial share capital of Rs 55.68 crore, alongside reserves of Rs 256.87 crore. Their investment in infrastructure assets, worth Rs 558 crore, has generated approximately 1,300 full-time jobs and 4,000 seasonal jobs, significantly contributing to the local economy.

The achievement of the Rs 1,000-crore milestone has instilled confidence and pride in their member farmers.

Leading Force in Agriculture

Sahyadri Farms has rightfully earned recognition as India’s foremost FPC in grape production and export, along with its commendable involvement in tomato processing. Their agricultural endeavors extend to pomegranates, bananas, mangoes, oranges, cashews, and sweetcorn.
