Agricultural Tractors

For Agriculture farming, agriculture tractors are the primary source of power in farming operations. As a result, farmers select various agricultural machinery and tractors for their farmland. But have you ever thought about how these agricultural tractors are made? What parts of the tractors are used for, and what are their primary functions? So, to clear up any confusion, this article will assist you in understanding the various components of the tractor and its functions.

Tractors are powered four-wheeled operating machines that are used in farm tracks and also include trailers. First and foremost, we will discuss the various types of tractors used in farming.

Tractors Are Divided Into Classes

Tractors are classified according to their prospects. Some of them and their primary functions are as follows:

  • Crawler Tractor- Crawler tractors are also known as chain tractors or track tractors. An endless chain or track is installed in the pneumatic wheels of such tractors.
  • Wheel Tractor - Due to their four pneumatic wheels, wheel tractors are commonly used by farmers. Special tractors, general-purpose tractors, and row crop tractors are the three main types of wheeled tractors.
  • Power Tiller or Walking Tractor - Power tillers, also known as walking tractors, are typically equipped with two wheels. The tractor operation, however, is done methodically by the operator.

Let us now move on to the tractor parts and components. Several parts are used in tractors to ensure proper operation.

Agriculture Tractors' Main Components

When purchasing a tractor, one should be aware of the tractor's main components, which are designed in the following main components:

(1) Internal combustion engine

The Internal Combustion Engine is the tractor's first and most important component. The combustion of an oxidizer and fuel occurs in a confined space known as a combustion chamber in the engine. The tractor is fitted with an engine. The engine power in a tractor ranges from 20 to 120 horsepower.

(2) Clutch

The Clutch is essential in the tractor's operation because it connects and disconnects the tractor engine from the drive wheels and transmission gears. Power is transferred through the clutch system by friction between driven and driving members.

Specific Characteristics of a Good Clutch

  1. A good clutch should be capable of loading without chattering or dragging.
  2. It has a higher capacity and can transmit maximum power without slipping.
  3. The heat effect's high resistance should be determined by the friction surface.

Clutches are classified into three types: fluid coupling, friction clutch, and dog clutch.

(3) Transmission Gears

To control the tractor's speed in various variants in the tractor's rear wheel. Tractor transmissions can control different gears or powers. To control the speed of the tractors in various conditions such as shifting gears and directions, so that it is free and smooth. Tractor gears are broadly classified into two types:

  1. Transmission with Constant Mesh
  2. Sliding Type Selective

Gear Shifting Gears, Gear Housing, Main Shaft, Output Shaft, and Counter Shaft or Lay-shaft are the main components of Selective Sliding-type transmission gears.

(4) Unit of differentiation

The differential unit functions properly, allowing one of the rear wheels to rotate faster or slower. The differential unit is made up of

  1. The crown wheel
  2. Half shaft
  3. Differential casing
  4. Differential pinion
  5. The bevel gear

(5) Back wheels

The tractor's large rear wheels are secured to the backside of the driver's seat, allowing it to work in the field.

(6) Front tires

Front drive wheels or tires, as the name implies, are smaller than rear tires on two-wheel drive tractors. When working in the field, the tractor is always in front-wheel drive.

(7) Mechanism for steering

When the operator turns a tractor, the steering system governs the angular movement of the front wheels. The steering mechanism system is made up of various components such as the steering shaft, steering wheel, steering gears, drag link, kingpin, and so on.

(8) Hydraulics and a hitch system

Tractors are outfitted with a hydraulic system that allows them to operate a three-point linkage system. Hydraulic systems efficiently raise, control, and hold mounted or semi-mounted implements for improved farm operations.

 (9) Breaks

The primary function of tractor brakes is to stop or slow down the tractor's motion. It is mounted on the driving axle and is controlled by two independent pedals. Two types of brakes work in different ways. Mechanical brakes and hydraulic brakes are the two types.

So, for all farmers, the above information is quite informative and useful for selecting a tractor through the Tractor News website.
