Inspiring Story of Women Farmer- Journey from Earning Rs 30K to Rs 3 Lac Per Year
Bandana Kumari being highly qualified with a Master's degree chose to practice dairy farming. Her imperative decision resulted to earn Rs 3L per year from her 50% barren land.
Bandana Kumari, a highly educated and innovative woman farmer, has an inspiring story of transformation. Despite holding 40 acres of land, she faced the challenge of low productivity and 50% of her land was barren. Determined to find a solution, she decided to plant mango trees on one hectare of the barren land and utilized cow dung compost for nourishment. For five years, she successfully converted 1.75 hectares of barren land into cultivable land by implementing dairy farming compost.
Vigyan Kendra (KVK), the District Agriculture Office, and ATMA functionaries. She actively participated in their training programs to learn and apply new techniques in her field. Her dedication and efforts paid off, as she managed to reduce input costs and increase productivity by four times. Her annual net profit skyrocketed from Rs. 30,840 to Rs. 3,58,053.

Implementing innovative cultivation techniques like DSR (Direct Seeding of Rice), rainfed farming, ZTT (Zero Tillage Technology), and incorporating short-duration paddy varieties and pulse crops proved to be cost-effective and profitable for Bandana. Recognizing her achievements, KVK Banka honored her as a role model and featured her in their training programs, inspiring fellow farmers in the district.
