Under Which Scheme Is the Solar Pump Subsidy Available?

The subsidy on solar pumps is provided under the Prime Minister Farmer Energy Security and Upliftment Campaign, often referred to as the Kusum Yojana. The Central Government offers subsidies for solar pumps as part of this campaign. Subsidies are provided by both the state and central governments and vary from state to state. State governments invite applications for these subsidies.

How Much Subsidy Can Farmers Avail for Solar Pumps?

Farmers can benefit from a 75% subsidy on solar pumps provided by the state government. This subsidy covers solar pumps with capacities ranging from 3 HP to 10 HP. Farmers can choose the pump size according to their requirements. However, they are responsible for covering the remaining GST charges and other associated costs. For example, if the market price of a 3 HP solar pump is approximately INR 4,15,000, the state government will grant a 75% subsidy, equating to around INR 3,11,250. This means the farmer only pays INR 1,03,750. Alternatively, farmers can apply for a bank loan to cover this cost. This approach allows them to install a solar pump on their farm at a significantly reduced expense. Subsidies for other HP solar pumps vary based on state government regulations.
