To get the best silage, the maize harvester must carefully chop the stems and cobs. For the best silage quality, the maize harvester's feeding system is designed to feed the flywheel at right angles. The flywheel contains ten specially hardened knives that spin at nearly 1600 rpm. The feeding of maize to the flywheel is controlled by two feeder drums and two pressure rollers. One of the pressure rollers is toothed and spring-loaded, while the other is not.

The pressure rollers are mounted vertically behind the feeder drums, ensuring that stems and cobs are always chopped at right angles. This is the key to the machine's low power consumption and short chop length.

An easily accessible shear bolt is mounted on the machine to protect the feeding system. In bad weather, it protects the feeding system from the intake of earth and stones. Height-adjustable wheels maintain an even working height while in use, preventing the intake of earth and stones in poor conditions. The MC10X is powered by a PTO shaft with an overrun clutch and V-belts that require no maintenance. The machine is equipped with a manual V-belt tightener.

The feed unit is powered by a transmission that runs in an enclosed grease bath and requires no maintenance. Knife grinding is simple with the built-in sharpening device. A hydraulic cylinder turns the chute. The deflector is adjusted using manual remote control. Both controls are accessible from the driver's seat. The machine's height can be reduced by folding down the upper portion of the chute.
