By combining information and communications about their farms into one location, Fieldmargin enables farmers all over the world to save time and make more informed decisions. According to their mindset, farmers won't have to manage their farms using 20 different applications in the future but rather a one-stop location that offers a comprehensive space for all of their data.

What Fieldmargin Do?

By combining information and communications about their farms into one location, Fieldmargin enables farmers from all over the world to save time and make precise decisions. According to Fieldmargin's approach, farmers won't have to manage their farms using 20 different applications in the future but rather a one-stop location that offers a comprehensive space for all of their data.

Farmers may create digital farm maps with geo-located annotations and share them with all of the individuals working on the farm, including advisors and contractors, using Fieldmargin’s web, iOS, and Android apps. Photos, comments, and tagging enable real-time participation in every element of agricultural work.

Benefits

  • Farmers can monitor what occurs on their farm and receive notifications of changes from one location thanks to integrations with external data sources. This saves the farmer time and effort and enables improved decision-making by allowing the comparison of data from various sources.
  • These linkages include pricing feeds, yield maps, IoT sensor outputs, aerial photography from drones and satellites, and machinery telematics.
  • Fields and other features, such as hazards in the fields, can be simply mapped using a GPS or by hand. Assign tasks to workers and maintain a record of what has been completed and when; making sure that everything is taken care of.
  • Utilize the integrated messaging to keep your team and staff informed about tasks that need to be completed, issues on the farm, and more.
  • The John Deere Operations Center and Fieldmargin have already established a connection, enabling customers to import their field borders and, eventually, to view the location of their machines in real-time as well as public data sets like Natural England and weather information.
  • More significant machinery manufacturers, a drone imagery processing and flight plan company, satellite imagery analysis, and internet of things (IoT) sensor makers are a few of the integrations that are now in the works.

How to Map Your Farm on Fieldmargin

1. Locate your farm and prepare your fields first.

All of the farm's information will reside on your farm.

  • You should name your farm.
  • You can use a postcode or the name of your town to look for the location of your farm. By moving the icon on the map after clicking it, you can also set a location.
  • You can now draw the limits of your field. On Fieldmargin, the fields play a significant role in the geography of your farm. They can be used to keep track of the output from various parts of your farm.
  • IMPORT SHAPE FILES: By selecting the "Import" button, boundary files from MyJohnDeere, or RPA, that have already been set up for your fields can be imported.

2. Set your field uses now.

Field use is a method of keeping track of what is happening in each field, such as the crops or cattle there. Each user has a color that shows up on the map so you can quickly see what is happening.

  • To add a new field usage, tap "Set Usage" followed by "Create New.".
  • Name and color your usage, then click "Save."
  • You may view and update your current usages on the Field Usages screen.
  • Click "Select fields" after selecting the field usage you need.
  • Either click on the fields on the map or choose them from the field list to pick the fields that have these purposes. Under the field name, you can read what was grown there the previous year.
  • You can choose to select several fields at once. The sidebar displays the overall area of the selected fields.
  • Under the field name, you can read what was grown there the previous year.
  • Choose "Save."

3. Add permanent agricultural features as the final step.

You can utilize features to add detail to your digital map for objects that are permanent on your farm. These features are color-coded so you can distinguish between the many items on your farm. You can choose how to use these, but some potential additions include paths, drains, pipes, buildings, water features, and health and safety hazards.

  • Setting up Feature types is the first step. By selecting + Manage from the features sidebar, you set up the field usage type in the same way that you set up this.
  • Choose options from the sidebar.
  • Select "+ New."
  • Draw your features: By clicking and dragging points on the map, you can add points to the field's outline. Even after you've begun drawing, you can move the map by dragging. Double-click or click on the starting point to complete your shape. By dragging the shape's outline, you can alter your shape if you make a mistake.
  • Choose a feature type.
  • Click "Create" after you are satisfied.

Your farm is now ready for operation. You can now begin to plan, record, and report!
