Best 6 Horticulture equipment and their uses

A farmer or gardener needs many different kinds of tools and agri machinery to carry out various horticultural duties. Garden tools have historically been crafted from wood, stone, and metal. The use of metals such as iron, steel, and copper has led to the development of numerous types of garden tools and equipment, such as a hand cultivator, tractor, lawn mower, harrow, spade, secateurs, garden fork, sprinkler, rake, and pruning saw spray pump, grass shear, and budding-cum-grafting knife, as science and technology have advanced.

Equipment for the Production of Planting Material and Seeds:

Here we are listing the top 6 Horticulture tools and their uses,

Growing Media Siever

It is a rotating screen media separator with a motor that can be used for soil, sand, cocopeat, vermicompost, and farmyard manure. Any larger-than-1.5 mm particles, such as stones, clods, straws, etc., are removed. The machine employs a 0.5 HP engine and has a 1-ton capacity.

 Nursery Bag filling Machine

Large nurseries can use this to fill 400 pots, or 39,200 seedlings, per hour. The medium is mixed and fed onto the bucket conveyor by the apparatus. The bucket conveyor moves the media to the filling hopper, and the conveyor sets the empty trays on the continuous belt.

Budding and Grafting Knife

A knife used for both grafting and budding procedures is combined into one called a budding-cum-grafting knife. One blade is used for grafting, and the other is used for budding. The ends of the handles are attached to these knives. For knives, high-carbon or alloy steel is employed. Knives may have their handles folded into them. The knife may be 1.5 cm wide and 6.5–7.5 cm long.

Pruning and Slashing Knife

Branches and twigs from thick, unwanted plants are typically removed using it. The hardwood or plastic handle is tightly fitted with the carbon or alloy steel knife. The point of the knife is slightly hooked or curled for straightforward cutting or slashing of small branches.

Tree Pruner

The tree pruner is a manually operated trimming tool that is used to remove overgrown branches and twigs from standing orchard trees and plants so that proper ventilation and harvesting and illumination are possible. It consists primarily of a socket, a cutting blade with spring action, links, and an anvil with hooks.

Growing Media Mixer

For thorough mixing, a batch-type media mixer with an electric motor has been provided. It features peddle-type agitators and conveyors on a shaft moving at 9 rpm. The mixer, which has a batch capacity of 0.2 to 0.5 tons, mixes sand, FYM, vermi-compost, coco-peat, and other materials thoroughly in 5 minutes.
