Bayer conducted the first agricultural drone trial in Hyderabad

Bayer CropScience Limited conducted its first drone test at its multi-plant breeding facility in Chandipa near Hyderabad. The company says the use of agricultural technology has the potential to transform the agricultural sector and equip the country's farmers, especially the young, with operational skills that will help them increase their yields and income over time.

Sharing the message at the event, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said: "I am very pleased to learn that Bayer is planning a project to test the use of drones in agriculture". The Minister said the use of drones in agriculture will transform farm operations and equip our farmers, especially smallholder farmers with information and applications that will help them improve their yields and income over time.

"I appreciate Bayer's efforts to quickly adopt this technology to grow and transform agriculture in India and convey all my best wishes," he added.

Bayer has partnered with the new start of Drone General Aeronautics Pvt Ltd and is conducting a number of internal and external R&D experiments with universities and central research institutes to produce data to make drone-based resources available to farmers. 

New approaches such as these could create a road map for sustainable agriculture in India while promoting smallholder support and food security, he added.

The CEO of Bayer CropScience Ltd and Managing Director D Narain said, "Drone applications apply to other smallholder farmers in Asia and have the potential to bring significant value to small Indian farmers, as well as the economy and the planet". The company is proud of the results of its drone test in Hyderabad. Demonstrates future farming skills, he added. Based on the initial achievements of drone farming, future farmers can test the technical skills in paddy, maize, sugarcane, wheat, vegetables, fruits and vegetable crops and harvest support, according to a Bayer company statement.
